21 April 2025, Singapore – Musim Mas, a leading global integrated palm oil company, has been recognized for the second consecutive year for its environmental leadership in corporate transparency and action in forests and water security. The Group retained its double ‘A’ scores from the global environmental non-profit group, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), securing a spot on its prestigious ‘A-List.’
CDP, which operates one of the leading global environmental disclosure platforms, employs a comprehensive questionnaire that captures three elements of environmental performance: climate, water, and forests. The assessment qualifies a company’s efforts in tackling these environmental challenges and scoring their efforts on a scale from A to D-. Earning an A grade signals strong environmental governance, which enables businesses to manage risks effectively, attract investors, and foster sustainable growth. Companies on the CDP A-List have demonstrated superior performance compared to their market peers, showcasing that sustainability transparency leads to long-term success.
Achieving a place on CDP’s ‘A-List’ for the second year running underscores Musim Mas’ commitment to sustainability, including efforts to combat deforestation, manage water resources wisely, and progress toward net-zero emissions by 2050 across its value chain. The recognition also reflects the Group’s leadership on transparency and accountability in its sustainability journey.
Musim Mas has been disclosing to CDP since 2017 for Climate Change and since 2018 for Forests and Water Security, with continuous improvements in its scores. This year, among over 22,700 companies assessed, Musim Mas stands out as the only palm oil company on the list to achieve a double ‘A’ rating for Forests and Water Security, while maintaining a ‘B’ score for Climate Change in CDP’s 2024 assessment.
In January 2024, Musim Mas pledged to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 under the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), and by October, its targets were officially approved. As part of its broader commitment to sustainability and tackling climate change, the Group has also joined the Agriculture Sector Roadmap to 1.5 Degrees, alongside 13 other agri-commodity companies in 2022. Led by the Tropical Forest Alliance, this initiative is a collective effort to end commodity-linked deforestation and keep global warming within the 1.5-degree limit.
“We are grateful to be recognized once again on CDP’s ‘A List’. It reflects our Group’s commitment to sustainability and transparency. Protecting forests and water resources is essential to our path towards net-zero emissions by 2050, and this recognition affirms the progress we are making. There is still more to do, and we remain committed to driving meaningful change and strengthening our efforts – especially in tackling climate change. We will keep pushing forward, working with our partners and stakeholders to achieve real, lasting impact.” – Olivier Tichit, Director of Communications and Sustainability.
